NOTICE
TO ALL MEMBERS
Last
year, a motion was made and approved to begin having
pot luck dinners again.
Members are requested to bring
a dish to share before the general meetings..
Meats,
salads and desserts are all welcome.
If
you have not renewed your 2012 membership dues yet, you can now
pay them on-line using your credit card. Everyone received their
first 2012 renewal notice to renew in early July. So far,
we have 227 members that have renewed. To pay on-line and
save .44 cents, go to
http://www.legion.org/renew
and follow the instructions.
You
can also check your personal account by going to
http://www.mylegion.org
and setting up an account. You will need your membership
number. Here you can check to see if your data is correct
and if your dues are up to date.
If
you know someone that belongs to the 110 post, send them to me
and I'll have them transfer to our post. You will be doing them
a favor if they have not renewed yet, because the 110 post
charges $45.00 for membership. The 110 post is a collection of
American Legion members that have not signed up with one of
Washington's Legion posts. There is no benefit in belonging to
the 110 post.
Likewise,
if you know someone that is a veteran, I can also sign them up.
They need a DD-214 unless they are on active duty. A veteran
only needs to have served our country for one day to be eligible
and it must have been during one of the war times. The legion
has been open since 1990 for new memberships.
Remember
that you need to have a 2012 card before the last day of 2011,
else you will lose your accidental insurance coverage. This may
not seem like much to lose, but accidents happen at the wrong
time.
